Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is designed to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one address, but to seem as being sent from another, usually with the objective to scam the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, an exclusive record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers worldwide get it. The record contains all of the e-mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and when the sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the particular domain, the message won't be submitted and it'll be discarded. Whenever you employ this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam e-mails which appear to have been sent by you.
SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting
SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a shared web hosting
account on our cloud platform with just a couple of clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our advanced Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to enable it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and then enter the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be authorized to send messages from your emails. As an added option you may also restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only when it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This feature gives you the top level of safety, but it is not applicable in case only your web site is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are taken care of elsewhere. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and scam purposes.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes as standard with all of our Linux semi-dedicated hosting
, will provide you with a really user-friendly interface to enable the SPF protection service for each domain name that you host within your new account. Several clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that and you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your email addresses. If the emails are managed on our end and not by some other supplier, you are able to boost the security level even further and take advantage of an option for your outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domains feature our MX records. This option will give you more control and it'll eliminate any possibility of someone counterfeiting your email addresses with the intention of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable when only your web site is hosted on our hi-tech cloud hosting platform, while your e-mail addresses are handled by a different service provider. If you aren't sure what features to choose, our technical support crew will assist you 24/7.
