Custom Error Pages
Understand what a Custom Error Page is, what function does it have and how to create one.
If you have browsed lots of Internet sites, you have probably come across some error message from time to time. An error may take place in case the web hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you must log in in order to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you are not allowed to access some webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file which is not on the server (Error 404). Encountering this sort of messages may often be irritating because the pages have absolutely nothing in common with the actual site. That’s why some hosting service providers allow you to set your own error pages that will match the layout of your own site and that may have any content which you would like - details why the error has occurred, a suggestion what you can do or even some amusing remark. Such a feature can help you keep the visitor on the site regardless of the error or the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Shared Web Hosting
You can set up personalized error pages for any of your domains or subdomains. The function is supported by all
shared web hosting solutions that we offer, so once you log in to the Hepsia Control Panel and visit the Hosted Domains section, you can click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up which will appear, you could choose the sort of error page which should appear - a default one from our system, a standard Apache web server page or a custom one. For the last mentioned option, you have to specify the URL to the page, so when you use personalized pages, you should upload the files inside your hosting account first. One other way is to use an .htaccess file located inside the domain or subdomain folder with a line for each and every error type. The correct syntax can be found in our Knowledge Base, so that you can use this feature even if you don't have any previous experience.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Incorporating your own pages for each of the 4 error types to any website hosted from a
semi-dedicated server account with us will be really simple and won't take more than a couple of mouse clicks. Once you upload the files in your account, you could go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and edit the domains and subdomains listed there through an intuitive interface with drop-down navigation. You could choose what page should display for each error type. The options are a standard Apache web server page or a page from our system, and custom made pages. In case you select the last option, you will need to type the link to every page inside your account, then save the change. The link or the kind of page which appears in case a user encounters an error can be modified whenever you want. If you are more experienced, you could use an .htaccess file to be able to set personalized error pages as well, as an alternative to using our integrated generator software instrument, and in case you pick this option, the file needs to be located inside the root directory of a specific domain or subdomain.
